FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Radon Learning Forum Brings Public Health, Housing, and Building Professionals Together in Fredericton
Fredericton, NB — April 2026 — Professionals from across New Brunswick will come together on April 17, 2026 for the Radon Learning Forum, a one day event focused on strengthening awareness, testing, mitigation, and prevention of radon exposure. The forum is organized by the New Brunswick Radon Coalition and is proudly sponsored by the Research and Productivity Council (RPC).
Radon exposure remains a significant yet often overlooked public health issue, with implications for healthcare, housing, and construction practices. Based on regional data, approximately 1 in 4 homes in Atlantic Canada are estimated to exceed Health Canada’s recommended radon guideline, highlighting the importance of increased awareness, testing, and coordinated action.
The Radon Learning Forum aims to strengthen collaboration across sectors and provide practical evidencebased insights that can be applied in everyday professional settings.
The program will feature expert presentations covering:
Radon awareness and public health impacts
Radon testing methods and best practices
Mitigation and prevention solutions
Current statistics, trends, and research findings
Challenges and opportunities in addressing radon risks
Designed for professionals and stakeholders who influence health, housing, and environmental standards, the forum will provide an opportunity to deepen knowledge, share experiences, and explore how coordinated action can support improved radon risk management across New Brunswick.
The event will take place at the UNB Wu Centre (Kent Auditorium) in Fredericton, with both inperson and virtual attendance options available. Registration must be completed by April 14, 2026.
