RPC Determines the Facts About NB's Environment
![]()

This past year saw at least two significant environmental issues receiving public attention in New Brunswick. RPC resources supported a number of environmental consultants and scientists to determine the facts for both these issues and many more.
In the Belledune area, several studies were conducted to investigate concerns about emissions from the smelter in the area. RPC's IAS group worked for multiple clients analyzing samples of soil, water, vegetation and tissue to determine the levels of lead, cadmium and arsenic which are of health concern. By providing facts on the issue, appropriate actions and strategies can be identified and, if necessary, their effectiveness monitored.
At Gagetown, concerns about Agent Orange and other chemical compounds provoked a study to investigate the possible presence of dangerous pollutants. RPC's unique capability in dioxin analysis helped our OAS group win a national contract for analyzing soil, water, and vegetation samples. The analysis RPC completed to support the consultants' studies resulted in the availability of facts for the stakeholders.
Concerns about environmental contamination and the potential damaging health effects often provoke emotional responses. These situations are particularly unsettling when facts are lacking. RPC is very proud to have local expertise, accreditations and facilities available to identify the facts.
