Other Testing
In addition to Paternity testing we can perform several other forms of relationship testing using DNA profiling.
Maternity Testing
We use DNA–based analysis to determine the relationship between a woman and a potential child (or children). In this analysis, a buccal swab is taken from the cheeks of each individual being tested, DNA is extracted from the sample and amplified with a suite of DNA microsatellite loci (ABI‐Identifiler™) to determine a 16 loci genotype of each individual. The genotypes are compared to determine the likelihood that the woman is the mother of the child (or children). This test is performed using swabs from the mother and child (or children) of interest.
We offer two types of maternity analysis: An at home test and an in‐laboratory test.
Twin Testing
We use DNA‐based analysis to determine whether twins are fraternal or paternal. In this analysis a buccal swab is taken from the cheeks of each individual being tested, DNA is extracted from the sample and amplified with a suite of DNA microsatellite loci (ABI‐Identifiler™) to determine a 16 loci genotype of each individual. The genotypes are compared to determine the whether the twins are paternal (identical) or fraternal.
We offer two types of twin analyses: An at home test and an in‐laboratory test.
Other Testing Services
By comparing the DNA profiles of two or more samples we can determine the likelihood that two individuals are siblings, and we can also perform grandparent testing. To inquire about these or other relationship tests please contact us.
